Battle of Britain action heads to Croft

13 Aug 19

This weekend (August 17/18) sees competitors on two, three and four wheels converge on Croft Circuit for the traditional Battle of Britain race meeting organised once again under the expertise of Darlington & District Motor Club.

The meeting is unique in as much that it runs cars, bikes and sidecars at the same meeting and will incorporate 23 races over the busy weekend at Yorkshire’s only permanent race circuit located between Darlington and Northallerton.

A packed 11-race schedule on Saturday includes two races for the Focus Cup, the various classes in the 30-strong Mini Challenge, with a grid of 20 plus cars in the Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship and Scottish Motor Club Classics making up the car side. For the bikes, there are two races each for the 600/650s and the powerful 1000cc class.

On three wheels, the FSRA F2 Sidecars take centre stage with two championship races over the weekend with star names such as Catterick Garrison ace Greg Lambert, Conrad Harrison from Leeds and Durham’s Lee Crawford just a few of a packed grid of 23 outfits taking part.

Sunday’s 12-race fayre is similar but culminates with a trio of feature Battle of Britain Trophy races for both cars and bikes to round off a superb weekend of action.

This is the first time that DDMC has been responsible for organising the motorcycle part of the meeting as they have recently become a registered club with the ACU. They have been given fantastic support from the North East Motorcycle Racing Club and also the Scarborough 1946 Club.

The action gets underway at 9.30am on Saturday and from 12.00 noon on Sunday. Adult admission is just £12.00 on both days in advance or £15.00 on the day with accompanied children aged 15 and under admitted FREE on both days. A weekend ticket costs £20.00 in advance or £27.00 on the gate. There is also FREE car parking and FREE paddock access
