Croft Retro and Classic Weekend set to take centre stage in 2019 summer schedule

07 Dec 18

Croft Circuit has announced a change to its ‘Nostalgia Festival’ weekend with the two-day meeting on August 3/4 now becoming the ‘Croft Retro and Classic Weekend’ from 2019 onwards.

Proving to be one of the standout events on the Croft calendar each year during the height of summer, the changes to the meeting will take place over the next two years.

Due to operational requirements and conflicts with other events that have subsequently restricted the customary air displays, the change of name will allow for more diversity in the both the vehicle displays and the attractions that are currently being planned.

On-track will see the very best Historic Sports Car Club categories go wheel-to-wheel, all of whom will undoubtedly produce a plethora of edge-of-the-seat thrills and spills along the way.

Away from the racing will see jaw-dropping classic vehicle displays, all of which will be held on the grass infield areas within the circuit.

In previous years the DLA’s rolling 40 year ‘Historic Classic Vehicles’ classification for MOT and vehicle tax exemption referring to cars first registered before January 1st of the 40th year has been the port of call for displays.

This year will see that timeframe extended to cover vehicles up to December 31st of the 40th year, therefore opening up the possibility of attracting a new selection of vehicles.

Retro trade stalls will also be invited to the event once again with a new addition being planned to include Auto Jumble stalls - for those interested and on the hunt for old and hard to find vehicle parts.

Application forms for those wishing to display will be available to download from the Croft website in the new year.

The Croft Retro and Classic Weekend is set to mark the dawn of a new era at the circuit and although the planned restructuring of the event may not be fully in place by 2019, it is hoped that by the 2020 the event will be completely up and running.

With capacity crowds and continuous support, it is expected that Croft’s Retro and Classic Weekend could scale new heights moving forward.

Tickets for the 2019 Croft Retro and Classic Weekend are now on sale with savings to be had in the run up to Christmas. Head to http://croftcircuit.co.uk/racing/retroweekend to find out more information or call 01325 721815.
