High speed start to 2012!

Monday 2 JanuaryChristmas Rally

The New Year got off to a high speed start at Croft Circuit when the venue hosted the Northallerton Auto Club’s annual Christmas Stages Rally on Monday 2 Jan (initially scheduled for 27 Dec).

In front of a sizeable crowd, Kevin Procter (pictured) dominated proceedings in his Subaru Impreza to win the popular Specsavers-supported event – held on a variety of stages within the confines of the Croft Circuit – for the third time in four years and by close to two minutes.

Finishing second was Chris Anderson’s impressive Ford Fiesta. Anderson had snatched the runners-up spot on the very last stage from renowned stunt driver Paul Swift who, having run Procter hardest throughout the day, gradually fell away with clutch problems on his Ford Escort Mk2.

In all some 70 cars contested the well-supported event.

Results: 1 Kevin Proctor/Dave Bellerby, Subaru Impreza, 56m34s; 2 Chris Anderson/Chris Thirling, Ford Fiesta, +58.31s; 3 Paul Swift/David Cox, Ford Escort Mk2, +58m54s; 4 Martyn Tinker/Giles Dykes, Lotus Exige, +59m.26s; 5 Peter Slights/Emma Slights, Ford Escort, +1h00m05s; 6 Alex Taylor/Richard Winstanley, Subaru Forrester, +1h00m15s.

New Date for Christmas Rally at Croft Circuit

Monday 2nd January

Croft Circuit can confirm that its forthcoming Christmas Stages Rally – organised by the Northallerton Automobile Club and originally scheduled for 27 December – has been moved to Bank Holiday Monday 2 January 2012. Croft also believes it is important to clarify the reasons behind this change of date.

Unfortunately the organisers of a recent event allowed their event to exceed their pre-agreed noise limit during one of their two days at the circuit.
Frustratingly, this in effect took up the 40th ‘noisy day’ of the year that, legally, Croft Circuit has available to run.

Croft Circuit would like to make it absolutely clear that this was not the Roger Albert Clark Rally (3 December) – its date had been agreed with Croft Circuit long ago and at a time when everything was on course to remain comfortably within the 40-day rule.

Meanwhile, Croft is delighted that an alternative date (2 January) has been agreed for Northallerton Automobile Club to run the single-venue Christmas Stages Rally at the circuit. This event was visibly at its most popular yet last year, attracting a strong turn-out of enthusiasts eager for a slice of competitive motor sport during the off-season. We look forward to welcoming them, Northallerton Automobile Club and all its competing crews once more on 2 January.

Tickets for the Christmas Stages Rally at Croft Circuit on Monday 2 January are priced £10 on the gate with admission for children aged 15 and under FREE. For further details contact the circuit on 01325 721815
